ABOUT US

Women of Color on Broadway (WOCoB) is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting women of African, Latin, Asian, and Indigenous descent in musical theater. Since our founding in 2018, we have gained recognition for our tribute cabaret performances, which honor the musical and cultural contributions of women of color. Our productions have been staged at notable venues like Feinstein’s/54 Below, Minton’s Playhouse, and The Great Hall at Cooper Union. 

About The Juneteenth Symphony:

Apply to be a musician for the upcoming Juneteenth Symphony. This is a 60-minute concert presentation that celebrates women of color in the performing arts. We are looking for 17 musicians in various categories, including bassists, drummers, pianists, guitarists, percussionists, strings, woodwinds, and horn players. Responsibilities for The Juneteenth Symphony

  • Ability to read music proficiently.

  • Ability to pick-up musical material quickly. Possesses a strong ear.

  • Comfortable performing R&B/pop music genres.

  • Executes repertoire selections with precision and expression.

  • Commits to attending scheduled rehearsals and soundchecks.

  • Independently reviews sheet music before the rehearsal schedule begins.

  • Actively fosters collaboration among fellow musicians and artists.

  • Engages with the community surrounding the project.

Tentative Ensemble Rehearsal Schedule:

  • Monday, June 10th: (vocalists only).

  • Tuesday, June 11th: (vocalists only).

  • Wednesday, June 12th: (vocalists + musicians).

  • Thursday, June 13th: (musicians only).

  • Friday, June 14th: Day off.

  • Saturday, June 15th: (vocalists + musicians).

Sheet Music and/or song Charts will be provided on June 1st. 

Tentative Show Day Schedule

  • 9AM -11AM: Tech Set-Up

  • 11AM -1PM: Soundcheck

  • 12:30PM: Vendors and Visual Artist Load-In

  • 1PM/1:30PM: Doors Open

  • 2PM: Show Starts

  • 3PM: Show Ends.

  • 4:30PM: Hard Out. Goodbye.
