Career and Education Resources
L.I.W.I.C. (pronounced “liquid”) is a tuition-free arts education and workforce development program for gifted girls from historically underrepresented minority groups and low-income families. This initiative provides mentorship, career exposure, and professional connections to young artists of color—empowering them with the tools to pursue higher education and careers in the arts.
The program engages schools, college students, and early-career artists through a variety of workshops, panel discussions, and ambassador opportunities. In response to declining public funding for arts education, L.I.W.I.C. fills a critical gap—offering advanced interdisciplinary training to expand students’ cultural knowledge, build their creative portfolios, and support holistic development, including study skills, independence, self-confidence, and motivation.
Co-founded by Victoria Velazquez and Alexia Sielo—both alumni of prestigious New York City arts institutions—L.I.W.I.C. was designed to address the unmet academic and professional needs they faced as young women of color entering the entertainment industry. With both virtual and in-person programming, L.I.W.I.C. provides a unique platform tailored to Black and Brown students across NYC. Curriculum spans the full spectrum of theater and entertainment careers, including performance, writing, directing, producing, makeup artistry, sound and light engineering, costume and set design, orchestration, artist management, casting, theater law, journalism, and philanthropy.
