L.I.W.I.C.

Women of Color on Broadway (WOCoB) is a premier nonprofit organization and multimedia production house dedicated to elevating the voices and professional presence of women of color in the theatrical industry. Since its inception, WOCoB has evolved from a performance-based platform into a comprehensive ecosystem of artistic development, media storytelling, and civic advocacy.

At the core of this ecosystem is the L.I.W.I.C. Framework—a five-pillar program designed to support the full lifecycle of an artist, from the classroom to the boardroom.

Library (L)
Our digital Library serves as a living archive of culture and craft. It houses vocal and performance labs, original multimedia documentaries, and historical materials including journals, biographies, and performance archives. By preserving works such as the WOCoB Tribute Concert on PBS, the Library ensures that the contributions of women of color are permanently embedded within the Broadway canon.

Interview (I)
Our Interview series is a prestige digital platform dedicated to reframing industry narratives—from survival to mastery. Through in-depth conversations and legacy pairings between icons and emerging artists, the series provides visibility, mentorship, and professional insight for the next generation of theatermakers.

Workroom (W)
The Workroom is WOCoB’s creative incubator and innovation engine. Designed as a laboratory for early- to mid-career artists, it supports the development of new works across stage and screen. Artists collaborate across disciplines to build original projects, reimagine existing works, and expand the boundaries of theatrical storytelling.

Internships (I)
Our Internships pillar serves as a workforce development pipeline for artists ages 16–25. Participants gain hands-on experience through placements with leading New York City theater institutions, media companies, and internal WOCoB productions—bridging the gap between training and professional practice.

Community & Civic Engagement (C)
Through initiatives such as #BroadwaySpeaks, WOCoB merges artistry with advocacy. By partnering with humanitarian organizations and activating artists around social causes, we empower creatives to serve as civic leaders and cultural changemakers.
