ABOUT Women of Color on Broadway Inc.
Women of Color on Broadway (WOCoB) was founded in 2018 to create network and career opportunities for women of African, Latin, Asian, and Indigenous descent who are pursuing a career in musical theater through our education program, L.I.W.I.C. We aim to create musical experiences that highlight the experience and legacy of BIPOC, and, we aim to make musical experiences accessible to people of color.
About The Role:
Our Grant Writer is instrumental in meeting WOCoB’s annual revenue goals, with a focus on administering WOCoB grant awards, reporting to institutional funders, and raising funds through foundation, government, and corporate foundation grants. As a key member of WOCoB’s Development & Revenue Strategy Department, the Grants Writer is passionate about the mission of WOCoB and its programs, and, can effectively communicate the pivotal role art, creativity, and civic engagement play in catalyzing change. The ideal candidate is also an exceptional storyteller with an eye for detail; and thrives in a fast-paced, busy environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Working Remotely
Our primary concern is for the health and well-being of our employees as well as candidates. We have transitioned all interviews to be conducted remotely via phone or video conference. While WOCoB complies with local and NY state health ordinances, this position will work remotely.
Principal Responsibilities
Grant Writing
Manage and support the full range of activities needed to develop persuasive proposals for grant requests, including drafting narratives, preparing project budgets, and developing final materials for submittal, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Work with the Development and Revenue Strategy Department in the preparation of major grant proposals through research, writing, proofreading, development of attachments and work samples, among other tasks.
Oversee all grant reporting, preparing report narratives and financial reports for the grants received by WOCoB.
Manage the Grants Calendar and ensure it remains current.
Prospect Research
Manage and implement the research and tracking of institutional funding prospects from various sources that match the priorities of WOCoB.
Program Data, Measurement & Impact
Acquire and maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of the organization and its programs to develop persuasive grant proposals, grant reports, presentations, and other development pieces.
Gather information and data from various staff and WOCoB contacts to demonstrate program impact.
Administration
Write timely acknowledgment letters to funders.
Process grant agreements received.
Track grant payments and pledges.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years’ experience in grant writing (focus on arts, community development, or social impact fields preferred), or equivalent education and grant writing experience
Demonstrated success in securing grant awards, with an exceptional ability to write persuasive narratives
Excellent attention to detail with an ability to develop acknowledgment letters, presentations, and grant proposals and reports that are virtually error free
A willingness to work collaboratively and iteratively to develop strong grant narratives
Proficiency with technology to create compelling digital presentations and video/image work samples
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
Outstanding communication skills, including strong grammar and proofreading, creative writing, and word processing abilities
High proficiency in Microsoft & G-suites, Adobe Acrobat, plus familiarity with relational databases
Excellent research and analytical skills
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure of deadlines
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
