OUR FOUNDING MOTHERS

Sisters Victoria and Alexia Velazquez co-founded Women of Color on Broadway Inc. to center racial and gender equity in the arts and reimagine Broadway as a more inclusive and empowering space. With backgrounds in business, education, and entertainment, they lead a range of programs that blend performance, storytelling, and workforce development.

Victoria, a business manager and creative producer, brings nearly a decade of experience building sustainable infrastructure for artists and cultural organizations. She leads program strategy, fundraising, and operations.

Alexia, a recording artist, Broadway actress, and creative director, uses musical storytelling to uplift marginalized voices and guide the organization’s artistic direction.

Together, they produce transformative programming that opens doors for underrepresented artists and young creatives of color—offering professional opportunities, mentorship, and platforms to thrive. Their collaborative vision continues to build a more equitable future for the next generation of theater artists.
