The Purple Crystal Honorary Award
The Purple Crystal Honorary Award is a non-competitive award created by Women of Color on Broadway Inc. to honor the lifetime achievements and exceptional contributions in theater by a woman of African, Latin, Asian, and/or Indigenous descent.
The Purple Crystal Honorary Award is inspired by the symbolic value of purple crystals, and their association with royalty, nobility, spirituality and creativity. Each honorary award is designed in the likeness of a crystal to honor the recipient’s body of work, and her legacy in Broadway history.
The Purple Crystal Honorary Award Recipient is selected by the Board of Directors of Women of Color on Broadway, Inc. The Purple Crystal Honorary Award may or may not be presented every year to a female performer, playwright, director, producer, stage manager, or designer of color as part of Women of Color on Broadway’s annual showcase.
